Drug Abuse and Trafficking Awareness Programme  - St Anthony's Church School

A Drug Abuse and Trafficking Awareness Programme was conducted for the students of St. Anthony Church School on 30th June 2026 with the objective of creating awareness among students about the serious dangers and consequences of drug abuse and illegal drug trafficking. The programme was conducted by Inspector Jeevan from Chandra Layout Police Station, who served as the resource person. He provided the students with valuable and enlightening information about different forms of substance abuse, the harmful effects of drugs on physical and mental health, and the legal and social consequences associated with drug-related activities.

The resource person also explained how young people can unknowingly become victims of drug abuse and trafficking and emphasized the importance of making wise choices, resisting peer pressure, and staying away from harmful influences. To make the session more realistic and impactful, the police officer screened a few informative videos that demonstrated how drug abuse and trafficking take place and the serious consequences faced by those caught in the vicious cycle of addiction and illegal activities. The students were guided on how to protect themselves, recognize warning signs, and seek immediate help if they or someone they know is facing such a situation.

The programme concluded with an emphasis on the importance of vigilance, responsible decision-making, and seeking help without hesitation. The students were provided with public helpline and emergency contact numbers and were informed about the appropriate authorities and support systems they could approach in times of need. The awareness programme was highly informative and meaningful, empowering students with the knowledge and confidence to make safe and responsible choices and to contribute towards building a drug-free and healthy society.
